Radicchio. Properties and benefits

Radicchio is a vegetable with excellent beneficial properties in both the green and red varieties. The latter, however, is more purifying and detoxifying than the green one since, as the color reveals, it is very rich in anthocyanins (substances with a powerful antioxidant action). It is a true concentrate of vitamins (vitamin A, vitamin C, group B vitamins and vitamin PP) and mineral salts (calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, sodium etc.) which give it beneficial properties for our skin, for the digestive system, for the cardiovascular system, for the eyes and for our immune system. It is also exceptionally rich in fiber which makes it an excellent ally of our intestine. In fact, it improves intestinal transit by promoting the expulsion of waste materials and combats even stubborn forms of constipation. In fact, this vegetable also appears to have prebiotic activity and therefore promotes the development of a healthy intestinal bacterial flora. For all these reasons it would be advisable to consume it every day, raw and in salads, preferably combined with vegetables with a high purifying and detoxifying power such as lettuce, watercress, chicory, endive, spinach etc.
