Chicory: Properties and benefits

Chicory is a herb with exceptional purifying properties that make it a real panacea for our body. It is particularly beneficial for our intestines thanks to the presence of inulin. Inulin is a prebiotic substance. It therefore favors the development of the intestinal flora without which the intestine would not be able to work at its best. It also has laxative properties thanks to the high fiber content it contains. It is therefore very useful for the proper functioning of the intestinal organ and, consequently, of our immune system. It has strong antioxidant properties thanks to the presence of vitamin A and vitamin E. This property is also favored by the presence of flavonoids which are particularly active in counteracting the harmful action of free radicals. It is also very rich in mineral salts (calcium, iron, phosphorus, potassium etc.) which make it very useful in all cases of deficiency of these precious substances. For all these reasons, chicory should be present on our tables every day. Eaten in salad (also associated with other vegetables such as lettuce and radicchio) it represents the healthiest thing we can offer our body.
