Sinusitis: Natural cures and remedies

Sinusitis is an inflammation of the airways and mucous membranes that line the nasal cavities. Its symptoms are very similar to those of a cold associated with catarrh, loss of smell and toothache. It can be caused by allergic reactions, viruses and bacteria. If not treated effectively (including rebalancing your lifestyle by encouraging body movement and adopting an adequate diet) it can also become chronic. The most valid remedy for the treatment of sinusitis is undoubtedly represented by decongestant nasal inhalations which can have a strong impact on this disease. The ideal would be to resort to the vapors of sulphurous and saline thermal waters which are able to act effectively to decongest the respiratory tract. At home you can use inhalations with aerosols of water and whole sea salt or fumigations based on apple cider vinegar, garlic and ginger which are also very effective for decongesting the airways.  Particular help must be provided by water which must be drunk in abundance in case of sinusitis. This is because it is necessary that the mucous membranes of the nasal cavities do not dry out and are always well hydrated to best respond to therapies. For this purpose, herbal teas with a powerful detoxifying and decongestant action on the respiratory tract are very useful. In particular anise, echinacea, St. John’s wort, coltsfoot, elderflower, liquorice, nepeta and mullein. Mixed herbal teas of these herbs can have very positive effects for the treatment of this pathology, especially if associated with a liquid fast of a couple of days which allows the body to rest (not being engaged in digestive processes) and work effectively on the resolution of the disease .
