HEALTH AND BALANCE ACID BASIC

Even today, a large number of people in the world ignore what the acid-base balance of our body really is. And this is worrying since the preservation of a good state of health or, on the contrary, the onset of the disease largely depends on this balance. We can say that the acid-base balance is, together with the work of purging the excretory organs, the sodium-potassium balance and correct nutrition, the true cornerstone of preserving the state of health of our organism. The oxygenation of body tissues depends on it and when problems arise in maintaining it, it generally does not take long before even very serious diseases take shape.

This is because excessive acidity (a very frequent condition in today’s world characterized by hectic life, stress, diet based on packaged and sterile foods from a nutritional point of view, poor consumption of fruit and vegetables, lack of movement, etc.) it can lead to demineralization of the organism, excessive overload of work on the part of the kidneys (the organs responsible for maintaining the blood PH around values between 7.35-7.45) and therefore morbid states of various nature. The blood PH of our body must necessarily be between the values of 7.35 and 7.45 and it is not possible that different values could be found since our body could not survive this condition. When a condition of acidosis occurs in our body (which can arise due to an incorrect diet lacking in fruit and vegetables, poor water consumption, poor physical activity, excessive stress and nervousness or the accumulation of very acidic toxins in the body , when the excretory organs do not work properly and are unable to expel them as they should) the blood PH values always remain the same (around 7.4) but the body must take alkaline minerals (calcium, potassium, sodium etc.) from the tissues which they are deposited and put them into the blood to buffer this situation.

The result is demineralization which can lead to serious illnesses and very serious metabolic imbalances. This is the case of osteoporosis, caused by the depletion of calcium reserves in the bones due to acid-base imbalance (the body in acidosis withdraws calcium reserves from the bones to introduce them into the blood and maintain the blood PH values around to 7.4). When acidosis is prolonged over time it can cause very serious damage to renal activity (also very important for the purging processes of toxic substances from the body) and to the cellular oxygenation process which can give rise to very serious degenerative diseases (formations of neoplastic masses). All this has been known since 1931 when Dr. Otto Heinrich Warburg understood that cancer arises from a condition of acidosis (and consequent partial lack of oxygenation of our body) in our organism. Obviously this condition can be easily resolved with a correct lifestyle but if prolonged for a long time it can cause potentially irreparable damage. To maintain a correct acid-base balance you should eat 70% fruit and vegetables and 30% everything else (a quantity which should increase with age since after the age of 45-50, the human body tends to lose the ability to produce bicarbonates and therefore to adequately alkalize one’s moods), do regular physical exercise and drink water, preferably alkaline and between meals, in the amount of 2-3 liters per day). Practicing breathing exercises can also be very useful for oxygenating the body but we realize that this is not always possible. Just as it is not always possible to stick to such a high consumption of fruit and vegetables (in relation to other foods) when one is forced to eat outside the home for work reasons where snacks and junk foods prevail. The fact is that maintaining a good state of health (and therefore preventing a large number of diseases) involves fighting metabolic acidosis and it is advisable to adapt (even reluctantly) to a healthy lifestyle that can effectively combat it.

To this end, due to their exceptional alkalizing power, those foods with very low PRAL (i.e. the renal acid load potential which measures the acidifying or alkalizing impact of foods in our blood) and therefore capable of effectively alkalinizing the blood are to be preferred. bodily humours. Turmeric, in particular, can be very useful for this purpose since it has an exceptionally low PRAL (-46.0) and is therefore able to alkalinize the humors of our organism in a very effective way (it is therefore advisable to use it as much as possible, as a spice or not, in our diet). Spinach (PRAL -14.0) and fennel (PRAL -9.7) are also exceptional alkalizers capable of counteracting states of metabolic acidity. Centrifuged juices can be made from it (which can also include carrots) to be consumed during meals to reduce their acidifying impact. Even alkaline water (with a PH equal to or higher than 8.0) can be very useful to counteract states of acidosis resulting from a diet too rich in protein foods and refined cereals. It is therefore relatively simple to defeat states of acidosis before they can cause the onset of diseases in our body. A few dietary precautions and regular physical exercise are enough. But when this condition remains for too long in our organism without intervening, it can only predispose to the disease and ultimately cause it. With potentially very serious consequences.
