Cucumber: Properties and benefits

Cucumber is a vegetable with excellent health properties. Its exceptional water content (97% of its weight) makes it a wonderful refresher and hydrator for our body. These virtues are especially appreciated in summer when the summer heat subjects the body to heavy sweating. It is also very rich in fiber and is therefore an excellent regularizer of intestinal function. It is able to promote diuretic activity and therefore, through it, the detoxification of our body. It is particularly rich in mineral salts such as potassium, sodium, zinc, magnesium, calcium etc. It is therefore indicated in all cases where there is a deficiency of these precious elements. It is also very rich in B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6) as well as beta-carotene (which has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and also a protective action for the skin and eyes), folic acid (beneficial for our nervous system) and vitamin K (very healthy for our cardiovascular system). For all these reasons this precious vegetable should be consumed as much as possible. Possibly raw, even in salads combined with other vegetables, or in the form of a centrifuged product always combined with other vegetables such as fennel, carrots, beets, etc.
